Boston Red Sox Billy Jurges new manager original newspaper art work circa 1960. This 16" x 15" original pen/ink art work was probably for the Boston Herald by Vic Johnson. He was the political and sports cartoonist for the Boston Herald. He gave the Red Sox, in the long interval between their pennants of 1946 and 1967 the nickname "The Little Rich Kids"--although his work addressed all aspects of Boston sports, his greatest emphasis was reserved for the Red Sox. This piece speaks to Jurges first full season as Red Sox manager and the high hopes he has for the success of the team--has various notes and comments on the bottom. See the Boston Bruins piece (Bobby Orr) we also have listed.
